What To Do On A Parissiene Holiday By: Stuart Smith
Paris is the capital of France and the second largest city of Western Europe, ideally situated along the banks of the river Seine. Paris short stays are primarily taken by couples wanting a romantic weekend, with a great deal to see and do that really a week is needed.
Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings,it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system, the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.
You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high,it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. In the evening the illumination means it can be seen for many miles,if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.
The famous Paris Avenue 'Champs Elysees' must also receive a visit, with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a 'must see' for every visitor. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily, the exclusive five star hotels situated in this more select part of the city might be out of most visitors' price range.
The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time,it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. There are so many exhibits here they cannot all be viewed during a short stay in Paris, unfortunately it has so many visitors each year that some people are unable to see their favorite works. Paris has attracted world famous artists for hundreds of years, many of whom left large collections of their paintings here like Monet and Picasso.
Another famous Paris attraction is The Arc de Triomphe which was built within the first decade of the nineteenth century,it provides visitors with a wonderful photo experience because it contains the names of every one of his generals. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area, including all the avenues of which it is a focal point.
You will not be at a loss for places to visit while in the city, these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break, the likes of medieval churches, buildings and castles, which it has in abundance, will have to wait until another time.
